INTRODUCTORY LESSON

IMPORTANT

INTRODUCTORY LESSON MESSAGE:

Due to our Beginner Lesson Program being completely full, as of

June 19, 2022, we are putting a pause on our

Sunday Introductory lesson.

If you have been enrolled in a riding lesson program and can comfortably walk, trot and canter, please call us at 301-421-9156

for a Sunday, 1pm “reservation-only” evaluation spot.

Are you curious about horseback riding? Unsure which of our programs is a good fit for you or your kid? Try our $20 introductory lesson and see why being an equestrian is so much fun!

These one-time lessons are a great way to try out riding, see Woodland for yourself, and learn more about all we have to offer. Anyone 5+ years of age is welcome. There’s no pressure, no sales pitch—just come ride one of our wonderful horses, meet our instructors, and get help choosing the lessons, camps, or clubs that best suit you. All you need are long pants, closed-toe shoes, and a sense of humor!

Intro lessons are on Sundays by appointment (except holidays) at 1 p.m. Call 301-421-9156 to schedule. Don’t wait—SPOTS FILL UP FAST!

What you can expect

  • All intro lessons start with some pointers about personal safety around horses.

  • We’ll pair you with a horse or pony suited to your size and level of experience.

  • For beginners, one of our staff assists with your lesson as the instructor covers riding position and how to walk, halt, and steer your horse. If you wish and your instructor approves, you may also trot.

  • For more experienced riders able to walk, trot and canter, intro lessons allow our instructors to evaluate your skills.

  • After the lesson, we’ll meet with you to discuss your options and help you pick the type and level of lesson, camp, club, or other offerings that are right for you.

What we require

  • Please arrive 30 minutes early to fill out our Riding Release Form (you may also do so in advance and bring it with you).

  • If you arrive after 1 p.m., we will ask that you reschedule—NO EXCEPTIONS!

  • $20 fee is due BEFORE your lesson begins, payable by cash or credit card.

  • Riders MUST be at least 5 years old—no exceptions. Kids under age 18 must be accompanied by their parent/guardian.

  • Wear long pants and closed-toed shoes for your safety—we will ask you to reschedule if your clothing is unsuitable.

  • For the safety of both our riders and our horses, there is a 240-pound rider limit.

Thank you for your cooperation!
